By picking and choosing what we think to be the most reliable and quality
conscious generic pharmacies available, we have tried very hard to avoid
the countries and companies that deal in adulteration
Adulteration not only functions to defraud consumers but it
can also pose health hazards. In the case of illegal drugs sold on the
internet, adulteration is generally in the form of inert or harmless
compounds, but deadly poisons, such as sodium cyanide, have sometimes been
sold in some narcotics. Some drugs from China actually contain a plethora
of unlisted ingredients, and not all of them good. By the way, China
sells tons of generics. Adulteration is not the
only source of poor-quality or dangerous foods and drugs: The ingredients of
junk foods need not be adulterated to ensure a virtual absence of nutritional
value; potentially hazardous medicines will have more adverse effects if
adulterated with ingredients that have not been tested for side effects and
efficacy. The consumer movement of recent times has focused not only on
adulteration, but also on the nature of various adulterating ingredients.
Examples: From China

Our recommendation: Don't buy products with
ingredients from China:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The companies we recommend purchase their drugs from Indian
Drug manufacturers that are approved by The World Health Organization (WHO)
and in many cases approved by the USA FDA. (See
list of similar organizations below)
First, is it legal to import
generic equivalents of brand name drugs currently under patent from an overseas
pharmacy?
The World Trade Organization (WTO) treaties between nations protect patents and
trademarks. India is one of the few nations that selected a protection scheme
based upon protection of the manufacturing process (Process Patents) rather than
using the more common scheme of protecting the actual product (Product Patents).
As a result, Indian pharmaceutical chemists can legally create, and sell
worldwide, drugs that are still patent protected elsewhere if they do so using a
process that creates the identical drug through the use of a different
process.
Therefore, these drugs can be marketed at prices that reflect their real
manufacturing cost, rather than a monopoly price that is set without regard to
competition.
Even considering the foregoing, how
can the drugs available through online prescription pharmacies be at such a
discount?
Well, the real question is 'Why are pharmaceutical companies allowed to charge
so much when their cost of ingredients is so low?'
What most people are not aware of is the actual cost
of the ingredients that make up these pharmaceuticals. For example, 100
Celebrex™ 100 mg pills costs the consumer $130.27, but the cost of the
ingredients is a mere $0.60! That is a markup of 21,712%! Or, how about 100
Prozac™ 20 mg pills? Consumer cost is $247.47. However, the cost of the actual
ingredients is just $0.11! That is a 224,973% markup!
No wonder that the pharmaceutical industry is the most profitable (that's
profit, not gross income) industry in the world. The profit margin of the drug
companies, which takes into consideration the substantial costs for research
and development of new drugs, is nothing short of scandalous and immoral.
Thus, the question is not 'why can our overseas pharmacies charge so little', it
is 'why do they charge so much.
